What does Pride mean to you? What do you think it means and looks like for your small or rural community? Now take what you said, and think about it from a different angle. What does community mean to you today, and how do we build a strong community that is able to stand up in the face of the encroaching march of fascism on our nation? Right now, our communities are more divided than ever before, and Pride is one of the last bastions of all positive visibility for people who identify as LGBTQIA+.
We have seen incredible actions taking place around our nation in the past weeks as people come out en masse to say NO to Trump and Musk and their attempted coup on our democracy. But these actions are only one part of a good defense. Join the Indivisible Red and Rural Caucus for our May call where we will talk about taking hold of the energy and the mass mobilizations happening across the country, and turning that energy into positive changes for our communities and as a tool to help defend Pride and the LGBTQIA+ Community.
As we approach June and Pride Month, It is an important time to reflect on what it means to build communities where LGBTQIA+ can not only exist but thrive.In the face of renewed national-level attack, from executive orders targeting trans people to state-level rollbacks on healthcare, education, and military service, the stakes are especially high in red and rural areas. These are often the places where LGBTQIA+ individuals have the fewest resources, the least institutional support, and the most to lose. And yet, rural communities are also places of deep resilience. This Pride Month, we’re focusing on how rural organizers and neighbors can push back against exclusion and create spaces of belonging, care, and safety—no matter what’s happening in Washington.
Together we will have a conversation where we redefine what it means to be in community in a post Trump world, and how even in Red and Rural America, our communities are stronger when they band together and defend one another as neighbors, as friends, and as Americans.

Lately, it seems like there is a protest every day of the week. Many of us have attended one. As they get bigger and more popular the issue of safety for those participating has become a concern. This interactive training is designed to equip participants with the essential skills needed to engage in dialogue and manage conflict during potential tense and emotional circumstances. This training will focus on empathy, reflective listening, self-regulation, safety measures, and role play scenarios.
